Cyclocross

What is Cyclocross?

Cyclocross (aka CX) is a unique discipline of cycling that can be best described as a cross between road cycling, mountain biking, and steeplechase. Cyclocross competitors complete laps around a closed course that is almost completely unpaved, on mixed surfaces. Course can feature, grass, sand, gravel, and almost always mud.

Cyclocross competitors will be required to ride in close proximity of other racers, often making physical contact. They'll have to be proficient in dismounting & remounting their bike to leap over barriers, run up hills, and negotiate challenging course surfaces.

Cyclocross has traditionally been a Fall/Winter sport which adds another layer of complexity to an already challenging endeavor.

Your Bike - CX bikes can come in all shapes and sizes - "Ride what you got!" Traditionally, CX bikes are lighter, have more tire clearance to reduce mud build-up, have a shorter wheelbase, knobby tires, and taller in key spots for better clearance over obstacles.
